The school bully is quick to exploit new methods of bullying which means the problem is not left at the school gates.
Many
pupils are being targeted in their own homes, by phone texts, silent
calls, on instant messenger and by abusive websites and forums set up
to cause humiliation and embarrassment.
Fortunately, no matter
how careful the bully is to cover his/her tracks, there is no hiding
place in cyberspace and the police can track their digital fingerprints
down to an individual computer or mobile phone.
Hidden dangers on the internetBullying
UK has a particular interest in cyberbullying and we've closed down a
number of abusive websites and internet forums. There are also other
hidden dangers on the internet and you need to know how to recognise
risky websites which may not be what they seem. Cyber safety
websites tend to concentrate on men making contact with young people
through chatrooms and forums but there are other ways in which they are
targeting teenagers. We know that many teenage girls in
particular are seeking help for emotional issues on the internet and
Bullying UK's year-long investigation into self harm websites caused us
such concern that we passed details of a number of them to police and
social services. You can find detailed help on a range of cyberbullying issues in the other links at the top of this section. Contact us on help@bullying.co.uk if you need more help.Other pages in this sectionSchool projects
