We
receive many complaints from adults who were bullied as children and who are
still suffering the effects.
A
total of 1,323 adults who said they had been bullied at school took part in the
survey. The largest number 36% were aged 21-30 and we had 2% of replies from
people aged over 60.
78%
of the adults had been bullied at school more than five times.
There
are clearly long term effects on school bullying victims when 20% reported loss
of confidence after their ordeal ended, 13% said it affected relationships, and
7% said it affected their job prospects. 9% said they had been suicidal and 8%
said they had received medical treatment for mental health problems.
