The school bully is quick to exploit new methods of bullying which means the problem is not left at the school gates.
Many pupils are being targeted with cyberbullying in their own homes, by phone texts, silent calls, on instant messenger and by abusive websites and forums set up to cause humiliation and embarrassment.
Fortunately, no matter how careful the bully is to cover his/her tracks, there is no hiding place in cyberspace and the police can track their digital fingerprints down to an individual computer or mobile phone.
Abusive websites can be shut downBullying UK has a particular interest in cyberbullying and we've closed down a number of abusive websites and internet forums. There are also other hidden dangers on the internet and you need to know how to recognise risky websites which may not be what they seem.
Cyber safety is very important and you'll find information about staying safe on the internet on this website.
You can find detailed help in the other links in this section.
Cyber crimeCyber crime is another issue which is causing concern. Never give anyone information about yourself which identifies you, so never tell them your real name, your address, where you go to school, never give them your phone number and NEVER, EVER arrange to meet them on your own or with a friend. If they ask you not to tell your parents about their contact with you then that's a good reason for wondering what they are up to!!!!
Never tell anyone your bank account details or any passwords. Make sure you change your log-in details regularly. Be cyber savvy!
